About Us The Most Successful Singing School in the North
The Sally Darley School of Singing is an independent organisation, and was founded in Holmfirth West Yorkshire in January 1994. Since then we have trained hundreds of young people in the development of their singing voices. Many of our pupils have become some of the best young singers in Yorkshire. The school offers private tuition and parents attend the lessons. It is run in a simple and traditional way and seems to have a good reputation. Many come to us from word of mouth recommendation. Sally Darley is a very experienced and influential singing teacher. She was educated at Shelley High School, Batley Art College and Manchester Metropolitan University. Her disciplines are music and fine art. She is married to Peter Darley, a sound recording technician and music arranger. Now in its eighteenth year, the school has taken a fond interest in its pupils and many pupils regularly attend through all their teenage years, until, eventually they leave to go to university. The school is known of at The Royal Northern College of Music, where pupils successfully auditioned for the Junior Academy. Also, one of our pupils is now at The Department of Vocal and Operatic Studies at the Birmingham Conservatoire. Many pupils enjoy competing in local music festivals or take ABRSM grade exams. Pupils have regularly won first prize trophies at the following festivals: The Penistone, The Haydn Wood, The Mrs Sunderland, The David Clover, The Wharfedale. We are proud to report that most of our pupils gain a distinction at grade 1 to grade 8 ABRSM exams.
