Singing Tuition The Most Successful Singing School in the North
We offer private singing tuition to beginners of all ages who would like to improve their singing voice. Most of our pupils are aged between 7 and 18 years. Serious Study The pupils who are trained by us and become professional adult singers are the ones who enrol with us at a young age; from aged 7 to 15. It takes many years of dedicated and regular effort to become a professional classical singer in opera and in lieder. Less Serious Study Most of our pupils simply enjoy being professionally trained and they take part in competitions or concerts or make recordings or take ABRSM grade exams. Structure All applicants should telephone us to make an appointment for a private consultation. From this, the singing teacher can gain an idea of the requirements of the new pupil and create a unique plan of lessons. A week after the consultation, the pupil will start their regular weekly private lessons with Mrs Darley. Each lesson begins with singers warm ups and progresses to the technique and interpretations of a song. The songs that the pupils study are selected by the teacher in consultation with the pupil. Lessons include the following technical studies: Breathing, projection, posture, memorization, dynamics, music theory, self confidence, stage craft, diction, resonance, anatomy for singers’ scales, arpeggios, stamina. Advice is given on health and lifestyle for singers and the pupils family members are expected to be supportive and to have an active interest.
